About the Board of Directors

The MCA Board of Directors has 13 positions that are elected at the annual general meeting held in April or May every year.  Every position is a volunteer position and the board can fill vacant positions throughout the year.  If you are interested in joining the Board, please come to a monthly meeting or let someone on the Board know.  If you are interested in a position that is currently filled you can put your name in for any position at the AGM. Currently we have 11 board members.

Description of Director Positions

President 

Typically chairs meetings and is the “face” of the MCA which includes being a liaison with our local city  councillor and other representatives. The president is responsible for coordinating and working with the  MCA executive and all members to ensure MCA objectives are being met.  

Vice-President

Supports the president and the day-to-day business, public relations and advertising of the MCA. This  includes some administrative duties, as well as, supporting the other members of the board. Frequent  liaison with the Newsletter and Membership Directors to coordinate business advertising.  

Treasurer 

Responsible for collecting all monies due and paying of all bills and keeping accounts including monthly reports to the MCA executive on the state of the accounts.  

Secretary

Records minutes and decisions taken at MCA executive meetings and at the MCA Annual General Meeting.  Minutes are distributed to all members of the executive, and to the communications director for publishing.  

Communications Director  

Responsible for MCA communications including managing the website, electronic newsletter and  community email blasts, and supporting social media.  

Community Centre Liaison  

The MCA has negotiated a local management agreement with the city for the programming and  bookings at the centre. The liaison books local activities and signs contracts for community-run  programming and works with the city to book city-run programs and ensures the facility is maintained  properly. Duties also include collecting fees, administering key custody, and maintaining records for  reporting to the MCA and the City.  

Community Liaison Director  

Responsible for liaising with government and community stakeholders. Advocate for community  concerns and seek opportunities for local initiatives and coordination with local community groups and  organizations.  

Environment Director

Supports beautification projects in the community and other initiatives to support the natural beauty of  Munster.  

Membership Director  

Maintains database of MCA/Munster population. Co-ordinate annual canvassing of all Munster and  area members to update the database info; preparation of database information for printing of annual  Munster Phone Directory; and distribution of phone directory to active (paid up) members of MCA.  Supports welcome package for new residents providing copy of phonebook and highlighting MCA  purpose and activities.  

Recreation Director

Recruits and manages the volunteers who run sport activities for the community. Past examples include  the Munster Monsters Soccer, Drop-in Basketball and the outdoor Rink. Builds and maintains outdoor rink  with the help from volunteers, and coordinate City rink grant. Seeks opportunities for new recreation activities and programs in the community.  

Social Directors

The social directors are charged with making sure that everyone has fun! Duties include recruiting  volunteers while planning and running social events in our community. Past examples include Canada  Day, Harvest Fest, Winter Carnival and Easter Egg Hunt. Planning includes finding volunteers to work  events, arranging permits with the city, ordering supplies, booking entertainment, and set and approving  a budget for events. There are two social director positions as events are a big undertaking

Available to assist any other director and help with events within the community.
